Jackson: We've got to be better

Head Coach Mark Jackson reflects on his side's 5-0 defeat to Bolton Wanderers...

Mark Jackson was honest in his assessment of Tuesday’s heavy defeat to Bolton Wanderers and is determined to ensure a night like that is not repeated.

Jackson’s Dons, who travelled to Greater Manchester having won their previous two away matches, were beaten 5-0 by the promotion-chasing Trotters, who scored three of their five goals inside the opening 27 minutes of the contest.

“We've got to be better, simple fact,” the MK Dons Head Coach said in his post-match press conference. “Our fans travelled to support the team on a long journey and they've got to see better than that.

“The lads don't want to hear about positives and the fans don't want to hear it either. To come away from home, albeit against a good Bolton team, and concede that amount of goals and look as vulnerable as we did - of course there's a lot of disappointment.

“Defensively, we're really disappointed. We have to be resolute, switched on and be able to deal with danger moments, which were their set-plays - but we weren’t. We also had to be composed when we have good moments. All those key moments have cost us.”

Jackson added: “We'll be fully determined to find the solutions and rectify them to make sure they don’t happen again.

“The boys are hurting in there. We never like losing games, especially by that margin. It stings, and we'll let it hurt a bit on the journey back, but we can't let it last for too long.

“We'll dissect it and ensure we get better so that we can come back and be ready to go again at Sheffield Wednesday.”
