Harvie: We have to stick together

Daniel Harvie on what MK Dons need to do to bounce back from last weekend's defeat at Vale Park...

Daniel Harvie says the MK Dons squad shares the emotions felt by supporters at the current situation, but knows the only way out is for everyone to stick together.

The Dons currently sit 22nd in Sky Bet League One, four points adrift of safety after failing to win any of their last six matches.

However, they have an opportunity to get out of the bottom four on Saturday when they welcome Cambridge United to Stadium MK, and Harvie wants everyone’s focus and energy to go on turning things around this weekend.

“We're disappointed, frustrated, angry - you name it, it's what we are,” Harvie said after the 1-0 defeat to Port Vale.

“We're in a sticky situation but we all have to stick together. Us as a club, the fans, players, every single person. It's a tough time, but if we stick together we'll get through it.

“This is a great club, and where we are is far from good enough. The fans can boo, and deserve to do that because we're not doing it on the pitch, but there are still a lot of games to play and we've got to stick together to get through it.”

Reflecting on what went wrong at Vale Park, Harvie said: “It was never going to be a game where we could get the ball down and play because the pitch wasn't great. It came down to first and second balls and how much you want it compared to the other team.

“It felt in the first 15 minutes like we didn't want it enough. We can't wait until the second-half to start playing, we need to come out aggressive on the front foot and take it to teams.

“It feels like a goal goes in and we wake up, and we realise it's time to get back into the game. That has to go, and that has to go quick. We can't start games like that.

“We need to want it more than the other team. As players, we need to step up and show how much it means to us to stay in the league. There's no hiding it, that's where we are.”
