Russell Martin isn’t getting too caught up with results elsewhere in Sky Bet League One, knowing that his MK Dons side have full control of their destiny this season.
The Dons have watched on as sides in and around them in the table have dropped points, meaning they enter the weekend in the same position they worked themselves into after the 1-1 draw at Lincoln City over a week ago.
While, of course, pleased that results have gone in their favour of late, the boss knows that it’s about what his side do over the next two months that will define their campaign.
“Results went for us which is good but we've put things in our own hands with what we've done in the last few months,” he said in his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet League One clash with Bolton Wanderers at Stadium MK.
“We're in charge of our own destiny. It helps us, of course, when results go your way but we are focusing on us and taking care of our own business.
“I told the players that this month could define the season and can make it easier for everyone come next month.
“We have to be aware of the threat, of course, because we're not safe and I won’t be comfortable until it's mathematically done, but our aim has to be on the team directly above us and chasing them down.
“We're much closer to some teams now – teams that we were miles away from a month or so ago.
“We've got tough games coming up, but I'm hoping we can continue our good form and drag more teams into it.”
