Hard-working Hancox eager to impress

Mitch meets the media to discuss life as an MK Dons player...

4 July 2018

“Enthusiastic and hard-working” - those are two traits that MK Dons supporters should expect from Mitch Hancox this season.

Hancox signed a one-year deal with the Club back in June - one of four signings made by new manager Paul Tisdale to date this summer.

Speaking to the media after his first day of on-field training at Woughton on the Green, the 24-year-old was asked to describe his game and his answer is sure to be music to the ears of MK Dons fans.

“I work very hard and I always give everything,” he said. “If I’m having a bad game, I'll make sure I’m grafting.

“I play on the left-hand side, whether that's left back, left wing-back or left wing. I can do a job in the centre of midfield too.

“I like to score goals - I got seven last season. I like to be creative, get balls into the box and push forward.

“Fans can expect an enthusiastic and hard-working player.”

Hancox spent the last two season with Macclesfield Town, with whom he enjoyed plenty of success including a National League title triumph last season.

Contrastingly, he arrives into a dressing room at Stadium MK which has suffered two relegations in the past three seasons but the Solihull-born left-footer is confident that the team can bounce back in 2018/19.

“Last season was great for me at Macclesfield but after coming in, meeting the players and staff, I an sense a real buzz around the place. I want to start the new season now really!

“I have spoken to a few of the lads who were here last season to find out what went wrong but, for all of us, it's a blank canvas.

“Everyone is raring to go. We want to do well this season and everyone is really confident.”
