Sam makes second England U20s start

15 October 2015

Sam Gallagher made his second start for England Under-20s in their Elite Cup ‘winner-takes-all’ clash with Germany.

The striker, on-loan with the Dons from Southampton, played 78 minutes for Keith Downing’s side, who were beaten 1-0 by the hosts courtesy of a second-half goal from Maximilian Dittgen.

Gallagher featured in all three of England’s Elite Cup matches during his first spell with the Under-20s.

Elsewhere, Simon Church came off the bench for Wales in their final Euro 2016 qualifier against Andorra.

Church and co had already secured qualification to next summer’s finals but managed to end their qualifying campaign on a positive note with a 2-0 victory at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Brighton & Hove Albion loanee Jake Forster-Caskey, meanwhile, was an unused substitute as England Under-21s beat Kazakhstan 3-0.
