SET extend Trek partnership

26 February 2014

MK Dons Sport and Education Trust (SET) were celebrating today as they announced that their strategic Cycle Club partnership with Trek Bicycle UK will continue into its second year.

Following the launch of this new initiative last year, MK Dons SET Cycle Club has gone from strength to strength with over 50 new members participating in weekend rides and charity initiatives.
This year will also see the launch of two exciting, new charity cycles for riders to participate in; London to Amsterdam for Prostate Cancer and Milton Keynes to Bilbao for the Henry Allen Foundation and MK Dons SET Disability teams.

Darren Oldroyd, of MK Dons SET, said: “As a charity we are delighted that Trek have chosen to continue as our title partner. The support from the organisation over the past year has been fantastic and helped us create a unique opportunity to engage and encourage the local community and Dons fans to 'Get SET and start cycling'. By partnering again in 2014 and using the power of the football brand, we will continue to deliver and make a tangible impact in the local Milton Keynes community and surrounding area.”

Trek Bicycle United Kingdom announced their partnership with MK Dons Sport and Education Trust in 2013 in order to support the charity’s commission to expand participation in sport and foster healthy lifestyles in the city. This was done by developing and encouraging the cycling community within the city and greater Milton Keynes area, incorporating a variety of rides for all ages and riding abilities.
The MK Dons Sport and Education Trust is a registered charity with projects spanning five

counties. The charity's areas of focus are health, education, inclusion, and sport participation, and have previously been chosen as the 2013 nominated charity by the Mayor of Milton Keynes.
Trek UK, who are also based in Milton Keynes, have witnessed over the past year the positive impact MK Dons SET CC has made in connecting with and reaching out to the local community.

Chris Garrison, Trek UK's media officer says, "We’re not just a global brand, as an organisation based in the area we’re also members of the local MK community and always keen to support great initiatives such as this. We believe that fostering a healthy lifestyle needs to start at home, which is one of the reasons why we continue to support our partnership with MK Dons SET and their goal to not only make cycling accessible to everyone, but also encourage positive and fun activities in the city.”
