Hodson and Killie secure survival

23 May 2016

Lee Hodson helped Kilmarnock secure their Scottish Premiership status on Sunday afternoon.

Hodson and co trailed Falkirk 1-0 going into the second leg of their relegation play-off but made sure of their place in the top-flight next season with a 4-0 triumph at Rugby Park.

It took Killie just eight minutes to draw level on aggregate through Josh Magennis and they edged ahead soon after when Miles Addison turned home at the back post from Hodson's excellent cross.

Greg Kiltie then added some breathing space in the second half with a neat finish before Kris Boyd secured the vital victory in the 65th minute.

Hodson, who will now join up with Northern Ireland ahead of their Euro 2016 warm-up match against Belarus, made 17 appearances for Killie during his time in Scotland.

Also in loan action this past weekend was Kabongo Tshimanga, who made his second straight start for Icelandic Premier Division side Throttur Reykjavik.

The striker, who was on the pitch for 80 minutes in Throttur's 2-0 win over Breidablik last Tuesday, played the entire match on Sunday but couldn't prevent his side suffering a 4-1 defeat to city rivals Valur.

Their hosts led 3-0 at half-time and then added to their advantage six minutes into the second half. Throttur scored a consolation late on through Borges.

Callum Brittain, also on loan in Iceland, wasn't involved in either match, however he'll hope to make an appearance on Wednesday evening when Throttur host Volsungur in the Icelandic Cup.
