Ebbsfleet 1 Ladies 0

MK Dons Ladies slim hopes of breaking into the top two took a blow on Sunday after they lost 1-0 to Ebbsfleet United.

The Dons travelled to Kent looking to extend their unbeaten run to three games and build on their BBFA Women’s Cup semi-final victory last weekend but despite starting brightly, they couldn’t make their pressure count in the first-half.

Hannah Barrett did go close with a free-kick from 30-yards but although it was well struck, she failed to hit the target.

Matt French’s side continued to dominate after the break although Clare Farron did have to be at her very best to deny Ebbsfleet an early second-half goal.

That early chance from the hosts was a warning sign as to what was to come and mid-way through the second period Ebbsfleet found the breakthrough from a corner, which was headed in at the near post.

The Dons did push for an equaliser afterwards but they failed to break down a stubborn Ebbsfleet backline, meaning they are now eight points adrift of second-placed C&K Basildon with just four games left to play.
