Dons duo involved in midweek wins

23 March 2016

Two Dons were involved in loan action on Tuesday evening and both players came out on the winning team.

Harry Hickford featured for Hemel Hempstead Town in their 1-0 win over Whitehawk, while Tom Wyant’s Biggleswade United thrashed Berkhampstead 4-0.

Defender Hickford came off the bench in the 59th minute to help see out the triumph at the Enclosed Ground. The 19-year-old replaced Nikolay Todoro, who scored the decisive goal for the Tudors in the first half.

Tuesday’s win sees Hemel close the gap on the National League South play-off places to just two points. They visit second-placed Maidstone United on Good Friday and entertain St. Albans City on Easter Monday.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Wyant returned to the starting XI for Biggleswade and kept his third clean sheet in a row.

Nick Elliot opened the scoring for United in the first half before Tom Cookman doubled the lead with a stunning volley after the break. Charlie Joy then added a third with Elliot grabbing his second of the evening to complete a convincing triumph.

Wyant and co, who are now just eight points off the top four, host Stofold this Saturday.

Also involved over the Easter Weekend are Tom Hitchcock and Crewe Alexandra, who travel to Sheffield United on Good Friday before hosting Bradford City at the Alexandra Stadium on Easter Monday.

Elsewhere, Giorgio Rasulo’s Aldershot Town take on Forest Green Rovers on Friday and then play Braintree at home on Easter Monday.

Simon Church and Lee Hodson won’t be in loan action this weekend as both players are on international duty with Wales and Northern Ireland respectively.

Meanwhile, Kabongo Tshimanga has returned to stadiummk after the expiry of his loan deal at Chesham United. He made seven appearances for the Clarets during his one-month stay at the Buckinghamshire club.
