Joe Walsh says it would mean ‘everything’ to feature for the Wales senior side, following the defender’s call-up to the national team this week.
Walsh, who has represented his country at youth-team level, has been selected in Chris Coleman’s squad for the FIFA World Cup qualifier with Republic of Ireland, which takes place in Dublin on Friday 24th March.
“It would mean everything to me to play for my country,” the centre-back told REDDOT.
“I think it’s everyone’s target to one day play for their country. It’s what you hope will one day happen when you’re growing up watching and playing football as a youngster.
“I watched all the superstars when I was growing up – Ryan Giggs, Ian Rush and all the others – so it would be an honour to play for them.”
Walsh added: “It’s definitely something I hope to achieve soon. I was called up in the squad for the game against Serbia in November and while training with them players was unbelievable, unfortunately I didn’t get on.
“There’s a game at the end of the month so fingers crossed I can be involved in that one.”
