Dons return to work today!

27 June 2016

MK Dons return to work today, when the players report to Stadium MK for the first time ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.

The Dons squad, with the exception of Lee Hodson and Simon Church who have or are still involved in Euro 2016, will undergo testing and screening under the guidance of Head of Sports Medicine Simon Crampton and Head of Sports Science, Conditioning and Fitness Damien Doyle.

Karl Robinson’s side will then really begin their preparations for the upcoming season on Tuesday when they head to Woughton on the Green for the first of three fitness-based football sessions.

After a rest day on Friday, the players will be in over the weekend with another set of three sessions which will run until Monday.

The Dons will then fly out to the Republic of Ireland on Wednesday 6th July for a week-long training camp in Dublin.

They will train on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and each day will include three sessions designed to improve the players’ fitness – stamina work on the beach, football-based sessions on the pitch and further strength and conditioning training in the gym.

Then, after a recovery day on Sunday, the Dons will play three matches across three days, subject to FA clearance – Monday 11th, Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th. Opponents and further match details will be confirmed in due course.

Robinson’s Dons will then return to the UK on Thursday 14th July ahead of their double-header against Cambridge City and St Ives Town – their first friendlies on home-soil.

The 2016/17 Sky Bet League One season begins on Saturday 6th August.

Keep it with mkdons.com and the official social media channels for full coverage of pre-season and the build-up to the new campaign.
