Alli pens fresh Dons deal

18 September 2014

MK Dons are delighted to announce Dele Alli has signed an improved and extended contract with the Football Club.

The 18-year-old Academy graduate has made an excellent start to his second season as a professional, featuring in every one of the Dons’ first nine games and scoring three goals. The midfielder also netted seven times in 37 matches in 2013/14.

This fresh deal, which runs until June 2017, rewards Milton Keynes-based Alli for his stand-out performances and reflects his important role in Karl Robinson’s first-team squad.

Speaking to mkdons.com, Dons boss Robinson said: “Dele is an exceptionally gifted player and it was only right that we rewarded him for a fantastic 12 months with this new deal.

“Dele will continue to be linked with some of the world’s biggest clubs and it’s inevitable that there will be a time when we will have to let him go, whether that be in January, next summer or whenever.

“However, for the time being, he remains an MK Dons player and we’ll continue to enjoy watching him progress week-in, week-out here at stadiummk. Dele remains fully focused on playing for this club and we remain just as committed to him and his development.”

Alli added: “I’m delighted. This came as a bit of surprise but I’m thankful to the Manager, the Chairman and the Club for this new deal and I hope to repay everyone on the pitch.

“My focus is solely on playing for the Dons. I’m a Milton Keynes boy so I couldn’t be happier representing my local team. I’m playing regularly in the first team as well which will only stand me in good stead for the future.

“I love this club and it would be a dream to help take them to the next level. Hopefully we can continue this strong start to the season, starting with Crewe on Saturday.”

Executive Director Andrew Cullen said: “We are pleased to offer an improved contract to Dele, who has developed through the Academy to cement a regular place in the starting XI and become a key member of the first-team squad.

“His attitude and professionalism is a fantastic example to other Academy players and this new deal demonstrates the opportunities and pathways at this Football Club for our young players to progress into the first team.

“The important thing is that our young players do not become static and that we focus on their continued development.”
