MK Dons have completed the loan signing of defender Kyran Lofthouse from Barnsley until the end of the season.

Kyran, 23, signs at Stadium MK on a loan deal until the end of the 2023/24 season from Sky Bet League One outfit Barnsley. This deal is subject to EFL and FA clearance.

Whilst fulfilling various positions down the right side of the field, More recently, Lofthouse has operated as a wing-back on either side of the pitch.

The Barnsley player has amounted a total of 125 senior professional appearances throughout his career so far, seeing seven goals during his time within the Vanarama National League competition.

On joining MK Dons, Lofthouse said “I'm delighted to be here, I'm really looking forward to getting going.

“I have a good relationship with Mike and Ian, I really like the way they go about things and the football they play, and it brought the best out of me. When the opportunity came up to work with them again, I was really looking forward to it.

“I'd spoken to them generally, seeing how we were getting on, and just general talk. But nothing really got going until the window opened, and then things moved quite fast as they tend to. I'm happy to be here and get it all sorted”

Kyran also touched on the type of player that the Dons fans can expect to see arriving at Stadium MK, the defender added “I'm direct, I like to get forward and create chances - that's the main part of my game.

“I'm a good ball-carrier, I like to get up and down and I'll be looking to bring that to Stadium MK.”

Born in Oxford, Kyran Lofthouse began his youth career with Oxford United where he made his senior debut during a 2-1 victory over Norwich U21 within the EFL Trophy contest.

The defender would later earn loan moves to Oxford City and Woking following his contract extension with the U’s until the summer of 2021.

His next permanent move saw Lofthouse return to his former loan club Woking, where he was awarded with the Goal of the Season accolade for his stunning strike against Altrincham during the 2021/22 campaign.

Following his departure from the National League outfit, Kyran would sign terms for Barnsley on a three-year deal during the summer of 2023.

He would soon receive his next loan transfer to Gateshead under the rule of Mike Williamson in September that year before reuniting with the Head Coach at MK Dons.

On the loan transfer of Kyran Lofthouse, Mike Williamson had this to say “He brings a lot on many different fronts. His physical profile is very good and he's here to continue his development.

“He did extremely well at Gateshead, and I think this move is a good fit for both parties, he can come here and continue that progression. I think he's got all the potential to step-up to the next level and beyond.”

Williamson also commented “He's a great character, he'll fit in really well with the group, and bring quality.”
