MK Dons capture young forward on deadline day…

1 February 2024

Emre Tezgel puts pen to paper and signs on loan at Stadium MK for the remainder of the season as MK Dons’ deadline day signing. This deal is subject to League and FA clearance.

Tezgel, aged 18-years-old, will see the first move of his career as he signs loan terms from Championship outfit Stoke City.

The young forward has already made history at his parent Club, having been their youngest ever player to see a senior debut at just 16-years of age.

Stoke’s number 37 took to the pitch for the senior side in a 2-0 victory over Leyton Orient in the FA Cup competition. Subsequently, Emre was then awarded with his first league sighting in a Championship clash against Reading in late January last year.

The forward has seen three senior appearances within the second tier of the English Football League system after signing the first professional contract of his career with the Potters.

Tezgel has also been involved within the Three Lions’ youth setup, featuring in both the Under-16s and Under-17s age groups. The striker successfully found the back of the net ten times whilst on international duty.

On signing his first-ever loan deal with MK Dons, Emre Tezgel said “I’m very pleased to get this deal done and now I’m excited to get going and showing what I can do.

“The style of football that the Club plays is very exciting, and I think that’ll suit my playstyle well. I’m quite a technical player, who likes to link-up and bring others into the game. I also love scoring goals as well!”

Tezgel added “I don't know anyone in the dressing room yet, but I'm looking forward to getting to know the lads and meeting the fans. It's a great club, a big one and I'm eager to get started. We're in a good position in the league and we want to keep that going.

“I want to get minutes, game time and experience being around the first-team environment. It's all good experience at the end of the day, and I want to add to the team as well.”

MK Dons Head Coach Mike Williamson commented on the fifth and final January acquisition “He’s a young, exciting talent that we’re looking forward to working with.

“We’re lucky to be able to bring him in and support with his development as much as his talent will support us for the rest of the season. We’re delighted to sign Emre on loan and I’m looking forward to working with him."
