Tommy Smith has been selected in the New Zealand squad for their upcoming international friendlies with DR Congo and Australia.

Smith is amongst the 22 players chosen by Head Coach Darren Bazeley, who names his first All Whites squad since taking on the role on a permanent basis.

The MK Dons centre-back is the second-most capped player in the New Zealand squad, behind only Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood. Smith has totalled 50 caps since making his international debut in March 2010.

New Zealand play DR Congo at the Estadio Nueva Condomina in Murcia, Spain on Friday 13 October (KO 5pm BST) before taking on Australia at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium on Tuesday 17 (7.45pm BST).

Smith is set to join up with his national team following MK Dons’ Sky Bet League Two fixture with Gillingham next weekend and will be unavailable for the Stadium MK clash with Barrow on Saturday 14 October.
