Report: Leyton Orient 2-0 MK Dons Under-18s

MK Dons Under-18s suffer defeat on the road…

18 September 2023

MK Dons Under-18s suffered EFL Youth Alliance League defeat as they travelled to face Leyton Orient in the previous weekend of fixtures.

John Bitting’s boys produced a strong first-half display, which presented many opportunities for the travelling team, who hit the woodwork with their efforts on multiple occasions.

Although, unable to capitalise on their chances Orient responded in the second 45 minutes of action.

With the score-line goalless at the interval, the home side saw the deadlock broken in the second half. Leyton Orient then furthered their lead prior to the full-time whistle and buried the young Dons beneath a two-goal lead.

John Bitting, the Lead PDP Head Coach who covered the game commented “It was a game of two different halves.

“The first-half we played really well and dominated. We moved the ball really well, created loads of chances, but wasn’t able to complete our moves.

“Second-half was a complete contrast. Leyton Orient got on top of us and caused us a lot of problems, they punished a mistake of ours and scored five minutes after the break, which was doubled 15 minutes before the break.”

Bitting added “We’ve got to reduce the chances of counters by completing our passes and roles going forward.

“It was a very disappointing second-half, but there’s still loads of football and opportunities ahead.

“It’s now about how the boys can link what they do to their performances on a regular basis, and realise that the game is not 45 minutes, it’s around a 100-minute game.

“And if you can complete your job throughout that game, it will give you the biggest opportunity of staying within or winning those matches.”
