Report: Cheltenham Town 4-3 MK Dons Women

MK Dons Women see defeat in the final stages of their fixture…

18 September 2023

MK Dons Women suffer a late blow in their FAWNL Southern Premier Division defeat against Cheltenham Town.

Charlie Bill’s Women conducted their second away league fixture of the season on Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, after a strong start for the Dons, the end result saw Cheltenham as victors.

The hosts opened the scoring within the first five minutes of the clash, but Dons Women replicated their start in the second-half of action with an equaliser through Laura Mitchell.

12 Minutes following Mitchell’s goal, Rhianne Rush found the back of the net as the travelling team gained the advantage for the first time within the match.

Mollie Coupar increased the score-line to 3-1 on the 73-minute mark, but to Dons’ dismay the action didn’t conclude there.

Cheltenham Town produced a comeback which stunned Charlie Bill’s Women. Within the final 15 minutes of the fixture, the Robins had turned over the score-line and regained their advantage before the final whistle.

This saw the FAWNL clash at Kayte Layne finish 4-3 in favour of the hosts.
