Preview: Young Dons prepare for PDL Cup

Young Dons turn their attention to the PDL Cup…

1 September 2023

MK Dons Under-18s prepare to embark on their Professional Development League Cup campaign.

Due to the success of their EFL Youth Alliance Cup run last year, John Bitting’s boys were placed into the PDL Cup tournament where they will face Oxford United in the first round of the competition.

Last season, the young Dons progressed through five elimination rounds before they earned themselves a spot in the final, which saw them face Rotherham United at Stadium MK.

MK Dons earned a 2-0 victory through Tommy Blennerhassett’s brace, which saw the young team make Club history as they were the first squad to lift the EFL Youth Alliance trophy.

This triumph has rewarded the Under-18s with a place in the PDL Cup, which their focus will be turned to for Saturday morning.

Kick-off is at 11:00am.

Oxford United have faced the young Dons three times in the past, seeing a victory in favour of John Bitting’s boys once, whilst the U’s saw the spoils on two separate occasions.

MK Dons Under-18’s will look to build on their first win of the season, which recently occurred against Stevenage, as they prepare for round one of the PDL Cup against Oxford United at Woughton on the Green Playing Fields.

This match is free to watch for all spectators that wish to attend.
