Graham Alexander has been named Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month for August.

The MK Dons Head Coach led his side to 12 points from a possible 15 in his first month in charge at Stadium MK. Alexander’s team finished August at the top of the Sky Bet League Two table and were amongst the division’s top scorers with 12 goals to their name.

“It's testament to the results that the Club produced,” Alexander said upon receiving the honour – the fifth EFL Manager of the Month award of his career.

“It’s always a Club effort. It’s the players who go out there and perform but they are also backed up by a magnificent group of staff and the supporters, who have played their part as well.

“I’d never kid myself that it’s about what I’ve done - it’s a result of a group of people coming together to make sure we started off the season on the right foot. It’s a credit to everyone.”

Alexander saw off competition from Neil Harris (Gillingham), Johnnie Jackson (AFC Wimbledon) and Luke Williams (Notts County) to win the award.

The Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel comprised of former MK Dons manager Danny Wilson, Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman, and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.

Goodman said: “Twelve points from 15 is an impressive start to the season in any scenario, but particularly when it comes to Graham Alexander and his MK Dons.

“Dropping down is never easy and it’s even tougher having to deal with hefty squad turnover on short notice. Regardless, Alexander has steadied the ship beautifully and has his side firing in front of goal.”

Davies said: “Having been relegated from League One last season, MK Dons have made a good start to life back in Sky Bet League Two under new boss Graham Alexander.

“With newly promoted sides Wrexham and Notts County taking up plenty of the outright book before a ball was kicked, MK Dons went off at what now looks like a very generous price of 20/1 for the title - a price that has now been cut in half after their good start.

“A shock defeat to Crewe last Saturday slightly took the gloss off things, but the Dons’ target will still be promotion back to League One at the first time of asking, which Sky Bet have at 2/1 from 100/30 at the start of August.”
