Mike Williamson praised a ‘fantastic’ display from his MK Dons players in their 4-1 win over Bradford City at Stadium MK.

Williamson marked his first home match in charge with a resounding victory over the Bantams – the Dons’ first league triumph in 10 attempts. The Head Coach, though, was keen to ensure the praise and credit went to his players.

“The boys were fantastic,” he said in his post-match press conference. “They played with so much energy and we created so many chances which was really pleasing.

“(The performance) was mainly down to the players, and less about the structure at this stage. The structure and detail will come and we'll improve out of possession too. That makes it even more exciting because when we do get those ideas across, it will look even cleaner.

“The boys really deserve that, though. They've been working extremely hard and it has been extremely hard for them, so they deserve this feeling.

“For the fans, it has been really hard too. They've been through some tough times, so I'm really pleased for them. They were fantastic tonight as well.”

Williamson added: “It's a convincing result in the end. We’ve got an extremely talented group and it's up to us to find what we can to help and improve them even further.”
