Mid-week loan round-up: Dennis' full debut

All the up-to-date news on MK Dons’ loanees…

Matt Dennis made his first full debut for Sutton United, Brooklyn Ilunga set up Wealdstone’s winner and Jack Davies earned a point on his return to Oxford City’s starting XI.

Since his arrival at Sutton United late on in the January transfer window, Matt Dennis has only taken to the field as a substitute. That was until Matt Gray awarded the young forward with his first nod in the U’s starting line-up to face Crawley Town.

Dennis helped the team in their efforts to gain a 2-0 lead over Crawley before the striker was taken off for Lee Angol on the 66-minute mark. Sutton then went on to claim a 3-0 victory, which helped place them ninth within the Sky Bet League Two table.

Once again, Brooklyn Ilunga provided an assist, which proved to be vital in Wealdstone’s win over Maidstone United. The home side opened the scoring before the number 21 then picked out teammate Corie Andrews with a pinpoint cross into the danger area to double their advantage.

Inevitably, the support from Ilunga was crucial to the Stones’ success as Maidstone had halved the deficit six minutes following the interval. The fixture concluded 2-1, which has brought Wealdstone to within five points of a Vanarama National League play-off placement.

Jack Davies hasn’t seen action within Oxford City’s previous seven matches, this has been due to injury and suspension, as well as being an unused substitute during a few fixtures for the Hoops.

However, on his return to the starting XI, Davies helped to secure an important point against Braintree Town, who currently occupy third place within the Vanarama National League South table. A one-point differential currently separates the two sides fighting for the play-offs.

Tring Athletic have secured back-to-back results on the road, which has seen a total of four points collected with the help of MK Dons scholar Liam Mann. Since he recently joined the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division side, Mann has only tasted defeat once. Now, the young defender will focus to increase Tring’s unbeaten streak to three within the upcoming weekend of fixtures.

Tommy Blennerhassett was named on the bench when Potton United fell to a 2-0 defeat against Leighton Town.
