Loan round-up: Ilunga nears milestone

All the up-to-date news on MK Dons’ loanees…

14 March 2023

Brooklyn Ilunga nears a milestone, Matt Dennis closes in on ten appearances, Dan Kemp helps Hartlepool secure a point and young scholars play against familiar faces.

Brooklyn Ilunga has featured for Wealdstone a total of 13 times since he joined the Vanarama National League side on loan until the end of the season during the January transfer window.

Within those 13 appearances, Ilunga has only missed out on one start. The young Dons loanee will look to continue his impact on the Stones’ hopes for a play-off placement as they prepare for their Tuesday night clash against fourth place Chesterfield.

Following his full-debut last weekend, Matt Dennis returned amongst the substitutes for Sutton United’s Sky Bet League Two fixture at Holker Street. The young forward took to the field within the final 30 minutes of play, but the score-line remained unchanged as the game concluded 0-0.

Dennis, as well as the U’s will look to build on their draw against Barrow whilst they look ahead to a mid-week skirmish versus Grimsby Town at the VBS Community Stadium.

Dan Kemp made his eighth consecutive start for Hartlepool United in the previous weekend of fixtures. Within those starts, the number 40 has contributed five goals and an assist.

In the Pool’s most-recent fixture at home against Northampton, Kemp helped secure a point in a 1-1 draw. However, the forward didn’t replicate the contributions he made in back-to-back games prior.

Junior, as well as Bedford Town’s scheduled Southern Central Premier Division league fixture on Saturday 11 March was postponed due to an unplayable surface.

Jack Davies returned to the bench following his previous start for Oxford City, which resulted in a draw. Although, the young MK Dons defender was brought onto the field in the final ten minutes of the Hoops’ recent 3-0 victory over Hemel Hempstead.

Oxford City and Davies continue their pursuit for promotion as they currently place within the top three teams that occupy the Vanarama National League South table.

Still ruled out due to injury, Ronnie Sandford missed out on Hertford Town’s success over Thame United. The young goalkeeper remains positive to return to Southern Central League One Division action soon.

AFC Rushden & Diamonds didn’t have a match scheduled in the previous weekend of fixtures, which meant that Joel Anker and Charlie Waller didn’t feature for the Diamonds’ first-team.

Liam Mann took to the field in the 67 minute as Tring Athletic substituted the Dons Scholar on to face his fellow Under-18s teammate, Tommy Blennerhassett. Mann aided Tring in their 1-0 victory over Potton United.

Tommy Blennerhassett faced Tring Athletic and Under-18s defender Liam Mann, who is also the forward’s MK Dons teammate. Blennerhassett, as well as Potton United fell to a 1-0 defeat, but will look to bounce back on Tuesday evening.
