Report: Barnet 1-1 MK Dons

MK Dons draw level in their second pre-season freindly...

15 July 2023

MK Dons drew 1-1 against Barnet, courtesy of Mo Eisa's goal whilst a plethora of players received match minutes at The Hive.

Graham Alexander named a starting XI which included five players who featured at the start of the mid-week clash.

New signing MJ Williams was introduced into the starting line-up alongside Warren O’Hora, Ethan Robson and a few other players who featured in the final 25 minutes of Tuesday’s match.

FIRST-HALF
A quiet opening few minutes saw a spell of possession for both sides. Although, it was the hosts who would register the first shot at goal. A tame effort reached the target, but Craig MacGillivray was able to claim the ball comfortably.

Even though little action occurred during the first exchanges, the ten-minute mark saw Barnet take the lead. A goal-kick from Laurie Walker passed through into the MK Dons area, and in a struggle to clear Sam Barratt pounced on the ball to open the scoring. 1-0

In an attempt to level the game, Trialist A searched for a ball in-behind, but the Bee’s centre-half was aware to intercept the ball through.

Just after 20 minutes Craig MacGillivray was called into action once again to deny Nicke Kabamba’s close-range strike. The corner that followed the save soon resulted in a goal-kick for the Dons.

The travelling team found a spell of possession once again which led to successive crosses from Zak Jules, one of which needed to be parried away by Walker.

Five minutes before the break, Barnet were awarded with a corner which saw the resulting header narrowly miss the target.

Barnet sustained their 1-0 edge over MK Dons as both teams entered the break and prepared for another 45 minutes of pre-season action.

SECOND-HALF
Nathan Holland offered MK Dons a sight at goal after the winger won the ball high up the field and attempted to cut a pass back to Gilbey, who lurked in a dangerous area.

However, the Dons still awaited their first shot on target as Barnet’s quick reaction to the attacking move prevented any strike at Laurie Walker.

Graham Alexander’s men produced an earlier start to the action within the second half as Mo Eisa levelled the score-line at The Hive.

Alex Gilbey’s ball through was met by a vital touch from Eisa, who took the ball around the keeper to finish calmly in the open net ten minutes after the interval. 1-1

At the top of the hour five changes were made for MK Dons, which saw Trialist B, Dawson Devoy, Darragh Burns, Jonathan Leko and Daniel Harvie take to the pitch in place of Zak Jules, Jack Tucker, Nathan Holland, Trialist A and Ethan Robson.

Further changes were made to ensure more match minutes for the Dons players. Dean Lewington, Phoenix Scholtz, Max Dean, Dan Kemp and Matt Smith entered play for Warren O’Hora, Callum Tripp, Mo Eisa, Alex Gilbey and MJ Williams.

More minutes were provided for the MK Dons players, who drew level at The Hive following a 1-1 draw against Barnet in the second pre-season friendly fixture.
