MK Dons SET travelled to Broughton Pavilion on Friday afternoon for their final taster session of ‘Let’s get Physical’ for Women aged 16 and over.
‘Let’s get Physical’ is a community event which is held for Women to not only socialise together, but to interact with one another through physical exercise and activity.
Although competitive, the sessions include an aspect of teamwork and togetherness, which are formed through the physical activity taking place. These sessions usually include fun interactive games such as kick-rounders, football, dodgeball and many more.
“I also get involved myself! The best thing about ‘Let’s get Physical’ is that you don’t need any athletic ability to participate. No matter how good or bad you are at sports, these sessions cater to everyone and ensure that everybody has a good time.”
Whilst on the topic of the positive effect these activities have on the Milton Keynes community, mkdons.com asked two participants for their own view of the ‘Let’s get Physical’ sessions. When talking to Kirsty about the impact it’s had on her personally, she replied:
“It’s had such a great impact on me, not just physically but it’s also really helped my mental health too. To be able to get out and socialise, whilst also building a bond with this group through the sports we play is brilliant.”
Shardae, who volunteers at Broughton Pavilion (the venue that hosts these sessions) added “I volunteer at the pavilion, and it’s just great to see the positivity that occurs every week. I enjoy joining in with the fun and games too, it’s so beneficial for me mentally and physically.”
The ‘Let’s get Physical’ sessions allow parents to also bring their children along to watch so that you don’t have to miss out. Toys will be provided for the kids so that during the two-hour time period allotted for ‘Let’s get Physical’ they will also be engaged and safe.
The four-week trial has come to a conclusion, which sees the last session on Friday 21 July involving a football match to celebrate the launch of the Women’s World Cup.
Participants for this football session will meet at 1:00pm within the Hummingbird Children’s Centre, Broughton, MK10 9LS before the group makes their way over to Broughton Pavilion ahead of the activities taking place.
Any women over the age of 16 is welcome to join this ‘Let’s get Physical’ session.
