Report: MK Dons Under-18s 2-4 Stevenage

Young Dons suffer defeat at home…

17 January 2023

MK Dons Under-18s fell short by a two-goal deficit, which granted Stevenage with all three points in their EFL Youth Alliance League clash.

John Bitting’s boys set out to claim victory, which if successful, would have put them level on points with third-place Gillingham. Unfortunately, the visitors ensured that they climbed to within a point of MK Dons, who currently occupy fourth in the Group C table.

Corvell Pickering and Joel Anker placed themselves on the scoresheet, but their contributions seemed null and void as the Boro continued to sustain their lead until the final whistle.

Pickering scored the first goal for John Bitting’s boys in the 65 minute, which cut the deficit and brought MK Dons back into the match. Although, the advantage created by the visitors proved too great to match.

Anker netted late on with two minutes of regulation time left on the stopwatch. However, this late goal seemed merely a consolation for the home side, who were kept from nearing the score-line any further.

A strong display from Stevenage allowed them to increase their unbeaten run to five. Within this streak, four victories have been earned from the in-form side.

MK Dons currently remain above the Boro, even after suffering back-to-back defeats. However, a game in hand for Stevenage could see them snatch that fourth spot in the near future.
