MK Dons look to book a place in the final of the County Cup…

13 January 2023

MK Dons Women will host Reading in the semi-final of the Berks & Bucks Senior Women’s County Cup competition.

In the first round of the knockout tournament Charlie Bill’s Women bested Chesham Ladies with a convincing 11-2 score-line. In the following round, the Dons produced an emphatic winning display against Penn & Tylers Green Ladies at Fairfield’s Sports Hub, which saw them progress into the semi-final following a 17-0 victory at home.
Following the first couple of rounds within the tournament, MK Dons have scored a total of 28 goals whilst only conceding two. An impressive landmark, which has rightfully placed them a step closer to achieving silverware.

Moments of magic have been created by the home side within knockout competitions this season, and they’ll be sure to seek redemption after two goals in the dying stages of the match ended their Vitality Women’s FA Cup campaign last weekend.
Due to Reading Women being involved in Women’s Super League action on Sunday, it’ll be likely that a much-changed squad will make the trip to Milton Keynes.
Kick-off is scheduled for 1:30pm, Sunday 15 January. This match will take place at Fairfield’s Sports Hub, MK11 4BA. Tickets for this cup tie are priced at £3 per adult and £1 per concession.
Reading Women compete within England’s highest tier of Women’s football, the Women’s Super League. This table holds some of the most prestigious names within Women’s football, Reading currently find themselves placed tenth out of the 13 teams that occupy this league.
Reading may bring a different team compiled of Under-23s players for a chance to get within arm’s length of the County Cup trophy, this is due to a Women’s Super League fixture against Everton Women that will also take place on Sunday 15 January.
MK Dons Women have faced the Royals within the quarter-final of this competition in their previous campaign. Last season, Charlie Bill’s Women bowed out of the tournament following a 4-2 defeat to the traveling side. The hosts will look to seek revenge this time around as they prepare for their semi-final test.
Two goals within injury time denied MK Dons the dream of progressing further within the Vitality Women’s FA Cup. Charlie Bill prepared his side to face Women’s Super League Two outfit Charlton Athletic, who are pushing for promotion into the top tier of England Women’s football.
Chloe Sansom’s heroics from a spot-kick at the start of the fixture gifted a wave of hope throughout the travelling team. However, another penalty given in favour of Charlton saw the hosts take advantage.

Not long after the opener, Mollie Coupar scored her 15 goal of the season in spectacular fashion, the number 18 curled an effort into the top-right corner of the net and a passionate MK Dons side banded together throughout the rest of the clash.
The Dons’ efforts were enough to take them toe-to-toe against their Women’s Championship counterpart, but two goals within the dying stages of the game dealt the final blow to knockout Charlie Bill’s Women in the third-round of the contest.
