Striker to spend remainder of the 2022/23 season at Gander Green Lane...

MK Dons forward Matthew Dennis has joined Sutton United on loan.

Dennis, 20, will spend the remainder of the 2022/23 campaign with the U’s, who currently sit 14th in the Sky Bet League Two table.

The striker, who arrived at Stadium MK from Norwich City in June 2022, has been limited to just six league starts this season.

Sporting Director Liam Sweeting said: “Matt is someone that both myself and Mark see as an exciting talent that will become a big player for us in the future. However, that won't just happen automatically without careful consideration to his development plan and ultimately, minutes on the pitch.

“Therefore, with players such as Mo Eisa, Will Grigg, Josh Kayode and Max Dean here for the second half of the season, we have made the decision to pick the very best opportunity for Matt, where we believe he will play regularly, under someone we trust to develop him further.

“Matt now has the opportunity to play a major part for Sutton United in the second half of the season, as opposed to picking up a small amount of minutes at the end of games for us.

“Whilst we have a clear short-term target of retaining our League One status this season, we must not sacrifice the long-term development of some of our young talent. I know Mark will be keeping in close contact with Matt to ensure he is progressing as we believe he should.”
