Report: MK Dons Women 6-3 Billericay Town

MK Dons Women win on their return to league action…

7 February 2023

Charlie Bill’s Women claim three points at home whilst the Head Coach celebrates his 100 game in charge of the Dons.

November was the last time MK Dons took part in a FAWNL League fixture, due to their cup schedule, which continued through the following months. Now, at the beginning of February, Dons Women started where they left off within the league as they claimed three points on Sunday afternoon.

This victory has allowed Charlie Bill’s Women to currently sit seventh within the league table whilst having the least number of games played. Six points separates the Dons and a jump to sixth.

MK Dons Women Head Coach Charlie Bill celebrated game 100 at the helm with three points at the Fairfields Sports Hub. Goals from Tricia Gould and Gemma Biggadike, as well as a brace provided from Mollie Coupar and Laura Mitchell made Bill’s impressive milestone one to remember.

FIRST HALF

Within the first 45 minutes of play, MK Dons scored half of their final total. An electric start from the home side seemed to set the pace for the remainder of the game.

Tricia Gould netted her third of the season once she connected with Angelina Nixon’s ball through into the penalty area. The number 14 made no mistake and opened the scoring five minutes into play. 1-0

Ten minutes later, goalscoring machine Mollie Coupar doubled the Dons’ lead. Gould, this time, helped to set-up the second of the match as she located the number 18, who does what she does best. 2-0

The third arrived moments before the break, Nixon claimed her second assist within 40 minutes of play and Laura Mitchell increased the home side’s advantage before both teams returned to the changing rooms. 3-0

SECOND HALF

Five minutes following the interval, Billericay Town’s number nine was shown a red card by the referee. In-turn, this reduced the Ricay to ten women for the remainder of the fixture.

MK Dons ensured to capitalise on this opportunity as minutes after the sending off, Laura Mitchell grabbed her brace. The number 19 pounced on a loose ball in the box and fired home to net the fourth of the match. 4-0

Minutes after the hour mark, Mollie Coupar increased the lead to five. This goal from the forward has increased this season’s tally to the same as her shirt number, 18. 5-0

On the 75-minute mark Gemma Biggadike joined the scoresheet with an incredible effort, which bested the opposition’s goalkeeper. An absolute rocket of a strike rounded off the Dons’ goals for the day. 6-0

Even though the travelling team were down by six and had one less player on the field, the Ricay wasn’t giving in. This admirable resilience to continue their fight awarded Billericay Town with three late goals, however, that only halved their deficit before the referee signalled the end of the clash.
