MK Dons Under-18s suffered a 2-0 defeat at home against AFC Wimbledon in an EFL Youth Alliance league clash.
A strong first-half display from the young Dons meant that the two sides were goalless heading into the break. The home side created chances throughout the first 45-minute stage, however, found it difficult to capitalise on what they had crafted.
Whilst they limited the travelling team to little, MK Dons were hoping to reproduce that type of performance within the second stage of the match after the teams emerged from the interval.
Unfortunately, an unforced error from John Bitting’s boys caused the deadlock to break. The travelling team made sure to pounce on their gifted opportunity and punish the Dons for their blunder.
This created a swing in momentum, which AFC Wimbledon used to their advantage. Further into the half, the opposition doubled their lead and secured a 2-0 victory over MK Dons.
This result has knocked the young Dons down to eighth within the EFL Youth Alliance Group C table.
