Johnson: Taking responsibility

Bradley Johnson reflected on recent losses ahead of playing third-place Ipswich Town…

24 February 2023

Bradley Johnson reflected on the recent defeats before looking ahead to the Sky Bet League One clash against Ipswich Town at Stadium MK.

Recently, MK Dons suffered gruelling defeats against Bolton Wanderers and Sheffield Wednesday, who are both battling for promotion. The midfielder has said that although they faced ‘good opposition, the results are disappointing and as a team we’ve gone below the standards set’.

On Saturday afternoon, Mark Jackson’s men prepare to face another top-flight League One side in Ipswich Town. Hoping to draw knowledge on their recent fixtures, Johnson said “We’re all disappointed with the results, but we want to put it right.

“With the position we’re currently in confidence can get low, but the last few games are not acceptable and going forward we need to correct that. It’s down to us to turn that confidence around.”

With an average squad age of 24 years old, which is two less than Saturday’s opponents, Bradley Johnson was questioned on how his experience can benefit the side during their battle to escape the bottom four, the number 14 replied:

“As an experienced player within the team I take the responsibility, which is something I’ve learnt throughout my career. We’re a young team so myself and the older players look to help them out and help manage each other through games however we can.

The management and the staff set us up and prepare us ahead of the game, but it’s down to us players when we’re on the pitch.”

Finally, when questioned about the upcoming fixture against the current third-place side, Johnson had this to say “We’re facing another tough opposition, but we’re going into the game confidently.

“Hopefully, we can draw on the past few games and improve from them, which will give us a chance to get something out of it. We need to attack as a team, defend as a team and stick together. No matter what.”
