Ilunga: Working towards making a first-team impact

Brooklyn Ilunga looks to the future after signing a new contract to extend MK Dons spell...

22 February 2023

Brooklyn Ilunga is focused on making a first-team impact in the coming seasons after putting pen to paper on a new contract to remain with MK Dons.

Ilunga, who has been with the Club since the age of seven, has spent the majority of this season out on loan, impressing during spells with Hemel Hempstead Town and, most recently, National League side Wealdstone.

The 19-year-old will spend the remainder of the 2022/23 campaign with the Stones but has ambitions to make an impression at Stadium MK when he returns to MK Dons in the summer.

“I’m buzzing to get the new deal done,” Ilunga told iFollow MK Dons. “I’m happy to be able to continue developing here and hopefully next season I can get my chance to play in the first team.

“It’s been good to get minutes out on loan. I feel like it was important for me to get a feel for the game and to experience some men's football. Credit to the clubs I’ve been at for giving me the opportunity to play.

“I’ve been taking things step-by-step and focused on developing my game. I'm still learning and getting used to men’s football but I think it’s going well and I am loving every second.

“I’m getting the best of both worlds as I am still able to train here and stay around the environment. It’s been good for me to get an insight into how the manager wants to play and how I could potentially fit into the team next season.

“That’s the main goal for me, really. I want to continue to develop at Wealdstone and then I will focus on pre-season and making sure I am ready to impact the team next season.”
