Devoy: Striving for consistency

Dawson Devoy shared his thoughts ahead of the Oxford United arrival…

10 February 2023

MK Dons midfielder Dawson Devoy shared his thoughts with the media ahead of the Sky Bet League One clash against Oxford United at Stadium MK.

Prior to Saturday’s match, Mark Jackson’s men recently claimed league success with a 2-0 victory over Bristol Rovers at The Memorial Stadium.

Three points allowed the Dons to stay clear of the drop zone, a result which the team will look to replicate as they return to Stadium MK. This weekend could also grant the home side an opportunity to increase that gap to four points, dependant on other results within the league.

On reflection to the ‘hard-fought’ win on the road, Devoy said “I think we showed our quality, and the gaffer (Mark Jackson) said it was a proper away performance.

“I think we’re starting to gel as a group, and you can see that from the recent performances on the pitch. We’re all enjoying our football at the minute.”

The Irish midfielder has experienced his beginning five-month stint within the English Football League since his first career transfer from Bohemians to Stadium MK during the summer. Surrounding his progress following the player’s arrival last July, the number 28 had this to say:

“It took me a bit of time to settle in, but it’s been easy going once we started to improve and settle as a team.

“We’re all human and when you don’t play well you get down about it, but you can’t dwell on that for too long. The games within this league come quickly and you have to make sure you have full concentration and you’re always ready for the next one.”

The Dons have managed to claim victory over the U’s once already this season, with a 2-1 triumph at the Kassam Stadium, during which Dawson Devoy made his seventh appearance.

Looking to increase his MK Dons appearance tally to 31 this weekend, the Irishmen shared his final thoughts on the upcoming test against Karl Robinson’s side:

“I think we need consistency now. The performances have been there, but in some games the results haven’t followed. We’re going to need both a good performance and a good result tomorrow.

“They’re a good side and we will have to be at our best to beat them. It was a tough test when we went to their ground early on in the season, so we’ll be expecting more of the same on Saturday.”
