Robson: Looking to build momentum

MK Dons midfielder Ethan Robson shared his thoughts prior to the Carabao Cup first-round fixture…

Ethan Robson reflected on Saturday’s season opening victory against Wrexham at the STōK Cae Ras before looking ahead to the first-round of the Carabao Cup.

An eight-goal thriller kicked-off the 2023/24 campaign, which the Dons emerged victorious from following a 5-3 score-line. Robson, who provided the delivery which ultimately caused the error that broke the deadlock described the ‘joy’ Saturday brought after a ‘tough pre-season’.

The number 17, who joined MK Dons on a permanent basis last summer following a loan spell with the club a year prior, shared his thoughts after Saturday’s success. “I was delighted to get the three points - it was a great team performance and we got off to a really good start.

“We knew it was going to be a tough game, but we had worked hard all pre-season and to get that bit of joy after the game has made it all worthwhile, we were all buzzing.”

The midfielder covered more than 13 Kilometres in the first fixture of the season whilst he also achieved the half-century landmark for MK Dons appearances.

Although elated, Ethan’s focus was fixated on the next game, which will see Graham Alexander’s men return to Stadium MK for the first time this season as they host Wycombe Wanderers in the first-round of the Carabao Cup competition.

When questioned about the upcoming cup tie, Robson said “We’re looking forward to the next game, it’s going to be tough playing against a team who are in the division above, but it gives us another chance to put on a really good performance.

“If we play like how we did on Saturday then there’s no reason why we can’t perform well against Wycombe. Momentum is a big thing, and we want to win as many games as we can.”
