Tucker: We've got belief

Jack Tucker on Friday's 1-1 draw with Portsmouth...

MK Dons have come from behind to earn points in back-to-back weeks and Jack Tucker believes that’s a sign of the belief amongst the squad.

Tucker & Co fought back from a goal down to draw 1-1 with play-off chasing Portsmouth on Good Friday, six days on from doing similar to earn a point at Adams Park.

The two points gained have kept the Dons two places above the bottom four in Sky Bet League One and stretched their unbeaten run to five games, and Tucker believes the confidence gained will only boost the team during the season’s final stages.

“We've come from behind again and taken a point to keep the unbeaten run going which is good,” Tucker said in his post-match interview after Friday’s draw at Stadium MK.

“If we can keep that going at this stage of the season, we give ourselves a right good chance of staying up.

“Confidence is a big thing in football. When your confidence is high, things go your way and if we can keep working hard, keep putting good performances in and keep luck on our side, then we can keep building confidence.

“We’ve lacked belief at times this season. It wasn't for a lack of trying, but it felt like when we went behind we caved in a bit. But we've shown recently that we're good enough to compete with teams in this division.

“Two points we've gained from losing positions against teams higher in the league than us is a sign of that. Earlier in the season, we didn't come back from those losing positions. It's a sign of where we have developed as a side.

“We've a couple more teams up there in the league to play, so hopefully we can show that again. They're hard teams to break down but being able to do so before puts us in good stead.”

Prior to Friday’s game, Tucker was awarded the MK Dons Plumbing & Gas Solutions Player of the Month award for March – an honour voted for by supporters and a testament to his performances last month.

Tucker, reflecting on his recent form, said: “It has taken me longer than I wanted to get used to the way we play here, but recently it's been coming out.

“I feel a lot more comfortable with what I'm being asked to do, I've got to keep working hard to make sure these performances don't drop and I can maintain this standard.”
