O'Hora: We know what we need to do

Warren O’Hora shared his thoughts following the defeat at Highbury Stadium…

25 April 2023

MK Dons defender Warren O’Hora spoke to the press about his return to the field during a ‘tough’ 1-0 defeat to Fleetwood Town.

Promise Omochere’s goal minutes before the interval was inevitably the deciding factor within the fixture at Highbury Stadium. A strike from the home side’s number 20 crashed in off the bar to deny MK Dons the points they set out for in their mission to separate themselves further from the bottom four.

“It’s a tough one to take.” O’Hora said following the loss. “It was a game we needed to take points from and move away from the relegation zone. We saw it as an opportunity that we didn’t take.

“We had some good chances we should have taken, but we didn’t work their ‘keeper enough and a bit of sloppiness killed us. We have to be ruthless in both boxes.”

When questioned about Saturday’s set-back, the central defender had this to say “We’ve got six points up for grabs, two big games and it’s still in our hands. It’s up to us, we know where we are, and we know what we need to do.”

The recent result still currently sees Mark Jackson’s men placed above the bottom four. However, the gap to the Morecambe, who currently occupy the final relegation position, is narrowed to just two points.

“Other teams around us would like to be in our position because we’re in control of it. We have to be really up for it in the next two matches.” The number five replied on this matter.

Although a disappointing day for the Dons, the fixture at the Highbury Stadium did see the comeback of Warren O’Hora, who had been side-lined for just under eight weeks with a foot injury.

Even though his return ‘didn’t go our way’, O’Hora passed comment on his first fixture back since recovering from his time in the medical room. “I’m happy to be ahead of schedule.

“I felt every minute of the game, believe me. I’m happy to be back and I had to give everything throughout the 90 minutes, but I’ve had no niggles which is positive.

“It’s a smaller pitch which helped me, playing in the middle doesn’t require as much running so Tucks (Jack Tucker) and Skipp (Dean Lewington) did a bit for me, as did Josh McEachran and Paris Maghoma. That being said, I’m feeling good to be lacing up my boots again.”
