Dean Lewington has tied Roy Sproson for the third-most league appearances for one club in English football history.

Lewington played his 760th league game for MK Dons on Easter Monday, helping the side earn a crucial point away at Derby County.

The MK Dons captain is now third all-time in English football history for league appearances made for one club, alongside Sproson, who made 760 league appearances for Port Vale between 1950 and 1972.

Lewington is two appearances shy of second-placed Jimmy Dickinson, who totalled 764 league games for Portsmouth between 1946 and 1965. John Trollope holds the English football record with 770 league appearances made for Swindon Town between 1960 and 1980.

Furthermore, Lewington (789) is now alone in seventh place in the list of all-time English league football appearances.

The left-back has moved above David James and is one game shy of tying Neil Redfearn (790) in sixth place. He is also five appearances away from moving into the Top 5 alongside Tommy Hutchison (794).
