Henry Lawrence was happy to play his part in securing MK Dons a ‘big point’ at Pride Park Stadium.
Lawrence scored his first career league goal to earn the Dons a 1-1 draw with play-off chasing Derby County – their third come-from-behind draw against top-six contending teams and a result which stretches their unbeaten run to six games.
“It's a big point, first and foremost,” the Chelsea loanee said in his post-match interview following Monday’s game.
“Coming away to Derby, who are pushing for the play-offs, being 1-0 at half-time and not playing the best football we have this season, we'll definitely take a point.
“We held on a little bit in the first half, which you have to do in those situations. If you go in 2-0 down at half-time, it's even harder so we stuck together and going in 1-0 down we knew we'd create chances to equalise in the second-half, which we did.”
MK Dons are now four points clear of the bottom four in Sky Bet League One entering the final three weeks of the campaign – a gap they will be looking to extend this weekend when they take on Cheltenham Town at Stadium MK.
“We're six unbeaten but we have to keep it going,” Lawrence added. “We've got a big game coming up on Saturday against Cheltenham but you can see the confidence now, everyone's feeling it and we feel we can go into every game and win it.”
