Jackson: Disappointment can't linger

Head Coach Mark Jackson reflects on his side's 2-2 draw with Cheltnham Town at Stadium MK...

Mark Jackson was disappointed his MK Dons side couldn't see out Saturday’s victory but doesn’t want that feeling to linger, with another important game coming up at Stadium MK on Tuesday evening.

Jackson’s men came within seconds of beating Cheltenham Town until a 97th-minute goal from Alfie May earned the visiting Robins a share of the spoils.

Despite the draw, the Dons were able to extend their unbeaten run to seven games and keep themselves above the bottom four in Sky Bet League One. Jackson, though frustrated with the result, wants to keep positive.

“We were about 25 seconds away from victory so it’s disappointing but that feeling can't last,” the Head Coach said in his post-match press conference. “It didn't go our way, we conceded right at the end, but there were lots of positives.

“It wasn't the start we wanted, but we worked our way back into the game, which was tough against a team defending a lead away from home, on a good run of form and who are defending well. We kept going, and scored at a good time.

“We looked really positive in the second-half. We took the game to them, created opportunities and got the lead. At times this season, we've stood strong, we just couldn't get it over the line.”

Jackson continued: “It feels like a loss today, but we'll pick ourselves up. We can't let today's disappointment manifest itself into something bigger than it is.

“We've got to be ready for Tuesday. We're still unbeaten, we're on a good run, and we've got another home game on Tuesday where we will try and bring that level of performance again – that’s all we can do now.”
