Midfielder plays 64 minutes in 2-1 defeat to Belgium...

23 September 2022

Matt Smith made his 18th appearance for Wales in their UEFA Nations League tie with Belgium.

Smith was handed a start by Wales boss Rob Page and, up against the likes of Kevin de Bruyne, Eden Hazard and Youri Tielemans, the MK Dons midfielder played 64 minutes in the narrow 2-1 defeat at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels.

Wales return to action on Sunday when they face Poland at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Meanwhile, Dawson Devoy and JJ Kayode are set for Republic of Ireland’s crunch UEFA European Under-21 Championship Qualifying Play-Off First Leg tie against Israel.

Ireland, whose squad includes former MK Dons loanee Conor Coventry, will be looking to secure their place at next summer’s tournament by beating Israel over two legs. Kick-off at the Tallaght Stadium in Dublin is at 7pm.
