Liam Manning admitted that he was disappointed with the level of performance from the Exeter City clash.
Manning’s Dons had an opportunity to grasp back-to-back Sky Bet League One wins on Saturday, until Cheick Diabate’s headed goal decided the fixture in a 1-0 defeat in Devon.
When questioned about his post-match thoughts, the Head Coach had this to say: “It was really disappointing and not near the level we're capable of.
“It comes down to basics - they've got to be to a higher level. We have to step up and own the performance. Which is down to all of us, the players and coaches. We don't want many more feelings like this.
“It was a bit like Morecambe last week - they had chances and so did we, the difference last week was we took our opportunities.
“I was under no illusions that before we even kicked off here today, we still have a lot of work to do. Fortunately, we’ve got a bit of a break now - we have to take this time to reflect and improve.”
Jamie Cumming produced multiple stops which ensured that the match was decided by a single goal. When questioned about the keeper’s performance, Manning added:
“Jamie Cumming was terrific. He kept it at 1-0 and made some terrific saves. Jamie has showed real progress and he was the one positive to come out of that game for me."
