MK Dons Women set a new goalscoring record this season…

17 October 2022

MK Dons Women progress into the semi-finals of the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup after beating Penn & Tyler’s 17-0 at home.

First-Half
Charlie Bill’s Women took charge and controlled the game early-on, this gave Angelina Nixon the chance to open up the scoring five minutes into the game. The number seven grasped this opportunity and finished a possession-based move past the goalkeeper. 1-0

Nixon then used the momentum from her goal to set-up the second of the match, the midfielder carried the ball down the left-flank before she located Lucy Wood in the area, Wood collected the ball and it fired home. This doubled the lead ten minutes into the game. 2-0

The Dons seemed to start as they meant to go on, as the team continued to sustain their pressure on the travelling side. Nixon, once again, was involved in the action as MK Dons claimed their third goal through Laura Mitchell. 3-0

Mitchell then rewarded herself with a brace, after Nixon picked up her third assist of the afternoon. Within the opening 15 minutes, Charlie Bill’s Women led by four goals. 4-0

Tricia Gould then cemented her name on the scoresheet after Hannah Davies picked out the number 14 with a delivery into the area, Gould took her chance well and slotted the ball into the back of the net. 5-0

Nicole Pepper then produced a stunning long-range strike, which beat Penn & Tyler’s keeper and increased the home side’s lead to six. 6-0

Charlie Bill’s Women remained in control throughout the rest of the first-half, the team led six goals to nil within the first 25 minutes of play. After that, MK Dons maintained their ruthless approach and escalated their lead to 11 goals before the break.

Second-Half
Within the second 45 minutes of play, the winning team increased their goalscoring appetite. Evidently, the opposition’s confidence had been lowered, this allowed MK Dons to further punish the Penn and add to their tally before the end of the fixture.

Charlie Bill had enforced the team to sustain their high performance throughout the game, the coach eliminated any room for complacency which seemed to greatly benefit his side.

Not only an outstanding display in front of goal, but MK Dons Women also managed to keep the away side from penetrating their defences, which ensured that Chloe Sansom had her share of the spoils through maintaining a well-earned clean sheet.

The Home team scored six goals within the second-half, which rounded off a comfortable victory for the Dons. Charlie Bill’s Women had produced a season-high goalscoring game, that resulted in a 17-0 victory.
