Matt Smith's Wales saw their FIFA World Cup campaign come to an end on Tuesday following a 3-0 defeat to England.

Wales, who had just one point to their name from their first two games, needed to beat their neighbours and hope the other Group B match between Iran and USA to end in a draw. In the event of either Iran or USA winning, the Welsh needed to beat England by four goals.

None of those scenarios played out on Tuesday evening, with Wales losing 3-0 at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium and USA holding on to beat Iran 1-0. Those results saw England and USA progress to the Round of 16 at the expense of Wales and Iran.

Smith, the first active MK Dons player to represent his nation at a FIFA World Cup, was an unused substitute in all three matches for Wales and will now turn his attention to returning to Stadium MK and re-joining MK Dons ahead of the festive period.
