MK Dons Women look to bounce back…

18 November 2022

Charlie Bill’s team look to return to winning ways after their midweek shortcomings to Oxford United Women.

MK Dons dropped to tenth in the league after their Stadium MK defeat against Oxford. However, the Dons will ascend two places in the FAWNL table if they can best this weekend’s opponents, London Bees.

The Bees will travel to Sport Central to face Charlie Bill’s Women in a FAWNL league clash, whoever comes out on top will secure their place above the other team within the league table.

Kick-off is on Sunday at 2pm.

THE OPPOSITION

Recently, London Bees were knocked out in the first-round of the FAWNL Cup after they suffered a 3-2 defeat away to Exeter City. Although, they remain within the Vitality Women’s FA Cup tournament following a 4-0 victory over Hackney. On the other hand, MK Dons still compete within both knockout competitions.

The Bees have played eight matches so far in the FAWNL, which has placed them eighth with three wins and one draw. Opposed to the Dons, who have claimed victory twice this season with one game in hand.

This fixture will be the travelling team’s first league match since October, due to their scheduled cup games. They will be looking to claim a win, since their last three points occurred in September.

LAST TIME OUT

MK Dons battled against top-flight Oxford United Women in their most-recent fixture within the FAWNL. Ultimately, the U’s came out on top, but the result didn’t seem to reflect the fixture as there were many chances created in the Dons’ favour.

Charlie Bill’s Women suffered the punishment of failing to convert their chances. The away team were awarded a late penalty, which found the back of the net. Oxford’s spot-kick deemed the separation of the two sides within 90 minutes, to the disappointment of the hosts, who fought relentlessly hard to achieve a result.

London Bees took part in Women’s FA Cup action as they triumphed 4-0 over Hackney at home.

A ruthless display from the hosts saw them ease into the second-round of the competition, with four goals and a clean sheet to their name. They will prepare to face Southampton in the second-round proper.
