One of Saturday’s goal scorers, Mo Eisa, shared his thoughts after he contributed to a 6-0 victory over Taunton Town in the first-round proper of the Emirates FA Cup.
Eisa had missed the start to the 2022/23 campaign due to a long-term injury, which side-line the forward up until recently. The number ten, who was brough on late against Charlton, was greeted by cheers as he made his return.
Since his return, Eisa has featured in three games. Before the FA Cup clash, the striker felt that he ‘should’ve scored against Cheltenham’, but he made his mark in the most-recent fixture at Stadium MK with a spectacular goal in a 6-0 victory.
When questioned about progressing into the second-round of the FA Cup, the goal scorer had this to say “I'm pleased with today, with the team performance, with my goal and the win to go into the next round.
“It has been a good week, we've needed good performances. And for myself, I'm happy to be back helping the team any way I can.
“These games can be tricky, and we handled it well. Our attitudes were right, and the quality was there from the start, hopefully we can get a good draw for the next round.”
The forward has produced a total of 13 goals under Liam Manning. Now, Eisa hopes he can ‘make an impact soon’ as he hungers for a spot in the starting XI. When asked about his time off of the field, Eisa said “Players deal with it differently, but I think I handled mine well, I've worked hard since the summer.
“It’s a team game, so I felt helpless sitting on the sides, and it was frustrating. But I’m back out there and scoring again. I feel like all that hard work has paid off, I’m very thankful.”
To conclude the interview, Eisa added “Training has been really good and we’re now just getting the performances back on track. Hopefully the results will pick up and we’ll start to climb that league table.”
