Devoy: Turning positive performances into results

Midfielder looks ahead after Saturday's Emirates FA Cup tie...

30 November 2022

Dawson Devoy knows if MK Dons start consistently producing positives performances, like the one at Fratton Park last weekend, they will start to pick up points in Sky Bet League One on a regular basis.

Devoy & Co were beaten 3-2 by Pompey in their Emirates FA Cup Second Round tie in Hampshire but their spirited display, which saw them dominate in terms of possession and shots on goal, arguably deserved more.

The Dons turn their attention back to Sky Bet League One football this Saturday when they face Burton Albion at Stadium MK and Devoy says the focus of the group is on producing another strong performance – but this time, getting the result to match.

“I think if we put in a performance like that more times than not, we'll get the result,” the Irish midfielder said after last weekend’s game at Fratton Park.

“It's disappointing to be knocked out of the Cup but we have to take this performance into the league now and get three points.

“We have to start getting points in the league now. We know we've got quality - you can see it – so by putting performances together like that, we’ll start to get better results.”

Devoy grabbed his seventh assist of the season in the defeat to Portsmouth, providing the ball through to Darragh Burns for the game’s opening goal. Reflecting on his time at Stadium MK so far, the 21-year-old said: “I’ve settled in well.

“It takes time for everything to click sometimes and I've had to bide my time. I'm now getting more game time and hopefully I’m showing what I can do. I hope now I can keep going!”
