MK Dons' confirmed Sky Bet League One opponents

Derby County and Forest Green Rovers amongst the six new opponents already confirmed for next season...

10 May 2022

Following the conclusion of the 2021/22 EFL regular season, MK Dons know 21 of their 23 Sky Bet League One opponents for next term.

The Dons will play their fourth consecutive campaign in the third tier after missing out on the chance of promotion via the play-offs. They will be joined by Sheffield Wednesday, who also exited the play-offs after a 2-1 aggregate defeat to Sunderland.

Liam Manning’s men will face seven new teams in Sky Bet League One next season, six of which have already been confirmed following the regular season.

Peterborough United return to League One after one season in the Championship while Barnsley and Derby County also come down from the second tier. From League Two, MK Dons will face Champions Forest Green Rovers as well as Exeter City and Bristol Rovers.

The final two opponents for 2022/23 will be confirmed after the play-offs have been concluded.

One of Wycombe Wanderers and Sunderland will remain in League One when the Sky Bet League One Play-Off Final takes place on Saturday 21 May, while Northampton Town, Swindon Town, Port Vale and Mansfield Town will battle it out this month for the fourth promotion spot from League Two.

Fixtures for the 2022/23 campaign will be released on Thursday 23 June at 9am.
