Three matches were played throughout December, all of which had a different result. A draw against Plymouth Argyle, a loss to Oxford United and a boxing day victory over Lincoln City.
The points are shared at Stadium MK:
The Dons battled against Plymouth in front of the Sky cameras, Tennai Watson struck the first blow and opened up the scoring within 21 minutes, this was the full-back’s first goal of the season.
Connor Grant’s 66th minute equaliser ensured that the match concluded in a draw, both teams shared the points in our first fixture of the Christmas month.
A Christmas comeback at the LNER Stadium:
Liam Manning’s men travelled to the LNER Stadium, to take on Lincoln in a boxing day clash. The Imps gathered an early lead, claiming two goals within the opening ten minutes of the game.
Although down, the Dons were not out. Scott Twine halved the deficit 15 minutes after half-time, which swung the momentum back in the Dons’ favour. Matt O’Riley then scored the equaliser from the edge of the area, with a perfectly placed left-footed finish. At that moment, there were 15 minutes left of play.
The number nine finished the game with an emphatic last-minute winner, Twine’s quick touch allowed him the space to get a volleyed attempt goal bound. Although the strike looked destined for the top-left corner, a deflection off an Imps defender ensured that Joshua Griffiths was beaten.
Celebrations erupted at the away end, after it was certain that MK Dons had comeback from two goals down, to grab three points on the road.
