Report: Under-18s 0-1 Northampton Town

21 March 2022

MK Dons U18s fall short as they lose 1-0 at home to Northampton Town, in their fourth Youth Alliance Merit League 2 fixture.

Although the Dons suffered their second successive defeat, they remain eighth in the table. A two-point difference separates the young Dons from fifth, a place in which they could possibly ascend to this Saturday, as they look towards the match against Luton Town.

Both sides battled hard during the first half with no clear-cut chances created, the scoreline remained 0-0 throughout the first 45 minutes as there was little action for the goalkeepers at both ends of the field.

Five minutes after the break Northampton produce an attack which resulted in Miguel Ngwa firing a shot toward Dons’ goal, Adam Hayton makes an incredible save in order to tip the strike onto the crossbar and keep the game level.

The opening goal occurred 63 minutes into the game when the Cobblers were awarded a penalty, Kenny Ndefo stepped up and converted the pen into the bottom corner of the net, which allowed Northampton to take the lead.

MK Dons battled until the end, but much like their previous fixture they were unable to find the back of the net, this resulted in another narrow 1-0 defeat, decided by Ndefo’s penalty.

MK Dons: Hayton, Johnson, Kane (Clark-Anderson 60), Anderson (Silver 70), Ogundega, Tripp, Bombo, Lewis Burgess (Wood 33), Blennerhassett, Daffern (Anker 60), Adepoju
