Harry Darling shared his thoughts with iFollow MK Dons after Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Wigan Athletic…

The Dons maintain their position in the Sky Bet League One table after their clash against Wigan ended in a draw. A point shared between the two teams means that goal difference continues to be the only factor that separates Liam Manning’s men from the Latics in second place.

When asked about his thoughts on the result, Darling responded: “I think both teams cancelled each other out.

“We didn’t perform as well as we have done, or as well as we can do, but we didn’t lose, it’s another point gained and the unbeaten run continues.”

The number 6 praised his team and their ‘belief’ to acquire a point, even though they conceded 10 minutes after the break. Darling said: “It shows you what the group is about, even when we’re 1-0 down we kept on believing and we battled until the final whistle.

“We have that belief until the end and that’s a good thing.”

Darling also talked about the halt in the team’s celebration after he scored the late equaliser, adding: “Once again, it shows you how this group is. It was a great moment but we wanted to win, we didn’t want to draw.

“It displays this group’s mentality and the confidence that we’re all playing with. We wanted to go on and win the game, we didn’t achieve that, but we will go again next week.”

Finally, the defender acknowledged the home crowd which aided MK Dons throughout the game. He expressed: “They were brilliant all game. Their support helped us throughout the match, it also helped us get that goal.

“The fans were brilliant, and they have been brilliant all season.”
