McEachran: It was a no brainer

Josh McEachran shared his thoughts with iFollow MK Dons, after he put pen to paper, to remain at Stadium MK…

23 June 2022

McEachran had a great impact last season, he amounted a total of 43 appearances in the recent campaign, 32 of which he was involved in the starting line-up.

The number 16 said he was ‘absolutely delighted’ and he is ‘really looking forward’ to extend his career at Stadium MK, since arriving at the club back in March 2021.

When questioned about the contract extension, McEachran responded: “It was a no brainer.

“I’m glad to get my contract sorted so early on, and I can’t wait to get started. I had a slow start last year, because I missed pre-season, so I was a bit in and out of the squad. But, after I got myself fit, I played a lot of games, and I was really enjoying myself. So, a full pre-season will be massive for me.

“How well I was playing, and how successful the team were last season had a massive impact on my decision. Liam Manning’s arrival and his style of play also had a huge impact, people do need time to assess things, but I’m delighted that I’ve signed the contract.

On the last day, we just missed out on automatic promotion, even though we beat Plymouth 5-0 away from home, and they needed a victory to secure a play-off placement themselves. It just shows how far we’ve come.

“I think the experiences from last year will be massive going forward, we still have a young squad, who will benefit from the play-off experience. We have already taken a massive step from our 13th place finish in the 2020/2021 season, we just want to go that one step further this season.”

After the experienced midfielder put pen to paper, he now ‘looks forward’ to get his 2022/2023 campaign started. The final question was focused on the excitement of the upcoming season, to which McEachran replied:

“The players, the staff, the fans, everybody looks forward to it, and everyone will be looking out for the big fixtures straight away. We can’t wait for the first game of the season.”
